Wisteria

Wisteria

A member of the Fabaceae family, Wisteria sinensis (or "Chinese wisteria") is a climbing plant whose purple, fragrant flowers hang in clusters 30- to 40-cm long. Its bean-like berries are 10- to 15-cm long. The two wisterias in Les Arcs date back to the 1860's, when the railway was built. The one at the train station is still where it was planted originally, whereas the one on Jean Jaurès street used to be located at what is today the Bréguières economic zone. It was moved to a garden centre in Fréjus before being replanted at one end of the H.Vidal school's car-park.
