Presentation

Perched on the heights of the Tamaris hill, surrounded by umbrella pines, the villa overlooks the bay of Lazaret and the Toulon harbor. Built at the end of the 19th century by Blaise Jean-Marius Michel, known as Michel Pacha, the palatial proportions of the house are reminiscent of the Tuscan style, with its cubic floor plan, large openings and terraces with balusters. Villa Tamaris boasts exceptional exhibition rooms with a total surface area of over 1700m².
After many years devoted to figurative and contemporary art, the Toulon Provence Méditerranée Metropolis now intends to make the Villa Tamaris a place devoted to the image, affirming its commitment to the great protagonists of photography and video of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The artistic program, which aims to be both demanding and accessible to as many people as possible, is proposed by the "Objectif sur Seyne" association, chaired by Jacqueline Franjou, and its artistic committee, comprising Cyril Bruneau and Micheline Pelletier Decaux.
