Theater - Seaside

Adapted from Véronique Olmi’s novel, “Bord de mer” tells the story of a coastal getaway that takes a dramatic turn. It delves into the story of a mother who commits an irreparable act. A modern-day “Medea” portrayed by Élise Clary.

After *Phaedra* and *Bérénice*, Muriel Mayette-Holtz continues her exploration of tragic figures, turning this time to a contemporary work.

She lives alone with her two boys, and for the first time, she’s taking them on vacation. This trip is supposed to be a celebration. They set off by bus in the middle of the night; the children are quiet, but they’re hiding their anxiety: leaving during the school year, in the middle of winter—it all seems strange to them. Behind this trip, however, lies a plan driven by despair.

Alone on stage, Élise Clary lends her voice to this woman at her wits’ end. She vividly describes the hours leading up to the tragedy. And in raw language, imbued with poetry and defiance, she lets out a cry as heart-wrenching as it is terrifying.
