Presentation

The Académie du Var is presenting a poignant lecture on one of the least-known episodes in Canadian history, as told through the stories of the “Relocated” people of the High Arctic.
Benoit Perthuisot will trace the fate of Inuit families who were forcibly relocated in the 1950s to extreme and hostile territories.Amid misleading promises, uprooting, and the struggle for recognition, this lecture will shed light on a dark chapter in Canadian history as well as the deep wounds left within Inuit communities. An event rich in history and reflection on memory, sovereignty, and the rights of Indigenous peoples.
