The 2026 Salt Festival in La Capte (Pesquiers Salt Flats)

On September 12 and 13, 2026, the Salin des Pesquiers in Hyères will host the Fête du Sel, a free event dedicated to the natural and cultural heritage of the Salins d’Hyères. For two days, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., come discover this iconic site.

The Salt Festival returns on September 12 and 13, 2026, at the Salin des Pesquiers in Hyères. Over two days, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., this free event invites visitors of all ages to discover the natural and cultural heritage of the Hyères salt flats through a variety of activities.

The program combines nature, heritage, science, and recreation. About twenty science booths and fifteen creative workshops will welcome the public, alongside several art and photography exhibits. Guided tours will also offer the chance to learn more about the history of salt, the Tympan, and the reptiles found in this environment.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy birdwatching, horse-drawn carriage or donkey rides, wooden games, carousels, an introduction to circus arts, an escape game, and yoga sessions. Fleur de sel harvested by hand during the summer will also be distributed free of charge at the Cabane du Saunier.

Among Saturday’s highlights, the Salt Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Salin des Pesquiers before making its way to the port of La Capte accompanied by music. The festivities will continue into the evening in La Capte with live music and on-site dining starting at 9:00 p.m.

The event takes place at the Salin des Pesquiers, 1746 Route de Giens in Hyères. Admission is free. No parking is available directly on site. You can walk or bike there via the Pas du Saunier, or take bus line 67 to the La Capte stop. Dogs are not allowed.
