Blending contemporary dance, martial arts, and spellbinding music, Hervé Koubi presents a hypnotic and spectacular production. “Ce que le jour doit à la nuit” is a quest for identity and light brought to life by 13 virtuoso dancers.
Suitable for all ages, ages 7 and up.
“What the Day Owes to the Night” is an extremely physical, incredibly fluid, and gravity-defying work.
It combines capoeira, martial arts, contemporary dance, and urban dance with powerful imagery.
Through his mystical, spellbinding, and hypnotic choreography, the Franco-Algerian choreographer Hervé Koubi retraces his own history to rediscover his roots. The title evokes the transition from shadow (the past) to light (creation).
These virtuosos dance to a blend of Sufi sounds recorded by the Kronos Quartet, music composed by Hamza El Din of Egypt, and excerpts from Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. John Passion: a true cultural experience.
