Presentation

The chapel dates back to the 11th century, but the numerous restorations and extensions have given it an undefined style. You will be surprised by the presence of a second chapel under the same name, only 50 cm away! This very narrow border with the town of Cuers - due to parochial quarrels - offers an astonishing perspective that you’d rather photograph than cross, as slipping into it is no easy task! Legend has it that one day in 1041, after a terrible storm from which he escaped, Irenaeus, Prince of Archaia, had a chapel built in honour of Saint Christina. He decided that a hermit would live there in perpetuity; the last one died in 1850. The view from the square in front of the chapel is outstanding. It can be visited during the local heritage days.
