Presentation
To get the year off to a great start, come along to the opening evening of the Université du Temps Libre d'Ollioules!
6:30 p.m.: Presentation of the UTLO 2025-2026 program on the theme “The city, an adventure...”
Followed by a cocktail reception
8:30 p.m.: Film concert - Man with a Movie Camera by Dziga Vertov, written by Sébastien Arcos, on piano.
This film is one of the great experiments of Soviet cinema, a true manifesto on the power of images. Vertov does not tell a story in the traditional sense, but plunges us into the life of a city in motion. From dawn to dusk, the camera roams the streets, enters factories, observes trams, markets, offices, leisure activities... The city becomes the main character, alive, vibrant, sometimes mechanical, sometimes human.
On Tuesday, September 23, this experience will be enriched by live music: piano and synthesizer accompaniment will interact with the images, extending the energy of the city and offering a new way of experiencing it.
Man with a Movie Camera is not just a documentary about Soviet urban life in the 1920s, it is a timeless work that still questions our relationship with the city today: this place that is both familiar and adventurous, where each of us finds our place in a larger whole.
The opening night will take place at the Espace Jean Moulin - Place Marius Trotobas, Ollioules.
