Presentation

Step back in time and discover the earliest photographic processes of the 19th century.
An immersive experience blending history, art, and experimentation to explore two iconic techniques—the photogram and the cyanotype—and create unique images through the magic of light.

To mark the Bicentennial of Photography, as part of a series of six workshops offered from October through March at the BMJ, discover:
At the Château de la Moutte, the exhibition “Capturing Absence: Death Photographed in the 19th Century.” An invitation to explore the practice of post-mortem photography, which developed alongside the rise of the photographic medium. An intimate testament to grief as well as the final trace of the departed, the image thus becomes a means of capturing absence, preserving memory, and maintaining—for the duration of a single glance—the bond between the living and the dead.

At the BMJ, the workshop program invites participants to rediscover photography as an artistic and sensitive act, and highlights the history of photography as a craft through various techniques. These are moments of intergenerational sharing to explore photography beyond the snapshot, guided by Diana Kordowina. A professional photographer in Saint-Tropez specializing in portraiture and lifestyle photography, she is particularly passionate about the history of photography and alternative processes, which she loves to share.

A workshop open to anyone who is curious, passionate, and creative.
