Performance - Olivier de Sagazan, "Transfiguration"

Created in 1998, *Transfiguration* is Olivier de Sagazan’s signature piece. It features a character in a suit and tie, his face covered in clay.

For thirty years, Olivier de Sagazan has been shaping his clay-like flesh and exploring the boundary between the human and the object. In this performance, he takes on the role of a painter-sculptor driven by the desire to bring his work to life, to the point of taking a radical step. He undergoes a metamorphosis, erasing his features to become a succession of living works of art. Painting and sculpting then take the form of a ritual, straddling the line between dance and trance.
