Presentation
Ana Pérez and José Sanchez present STANS, a spellbinding musical and choreographic exploration—a first attempt at reinterpreting the Stabat Mater.
There are two of them. A climbing team. At an altitude of over 3,000 meters, fault lines cut through the mountains before them. They are etched into the rock. They are also etched into their lives—into their past as well as their present. Up there, we’ll discover what unfolded between them—facing the void, the euphoria of altitude, the exhilaration of the summits, and the joy of climbing. Driven by their shared passion, how far will they go in the realm of the absurd, solitude, and friendship?
Through the unique world of mountaineering, this play explores the relationship between men and women as they face the peaks, when humans are confronted with the hostile world of the mountains. Circus arts, clowning, and theater are blended here with a set design in which both the scenery and the apparatus are crafted from mountaineering gear or mineral materials.
