Organ and Cello Concert

The program features works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Camille Saint-Saëns, Olivier Messiaen, and Manuel de Falla.

The program will feature a suite of dances from J.S. Bach’s Suites for Solo Cello—a flagship work in the cello solo repertoire—in dialogue with pieces for solo organ by the same composer. This opening segment will lead into a second part in which the organ will accompany the soloist in a repertoire from the 19th and early 20th centuries that is particularly well-suited to the aesthetic of the Abeille & Méritan Romantic organ at the Church of La Garde.
