An opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, sung in Italian with French subtitles. Conducted by Kyrian Friedenberg. Featuring the Toulon Opera Orchestra and Chorus.
Whatever the situation—whether comic or tragic; whatever the behavior of each character—the insatiable young man grappling with women who are outraged, abandoned, or subjugated, or the indecisive and cowardly valet; whatever Heaven’s response to the blasphemy uttered, the music of *Don Giovanni* (the orchestra, whether powerful or coaxing, and the voices, whether full of verve or displaying instrumental virtuosity) is always so perfectly in tune with the spirit of the text that one might think they were conceived as an inseparable whole. This is the Mozart/Da Ponte miracle.
