Thwarted love, dishonor, unspoken desire, impossible emancipation… For the 2026–27 season, the Comédie-Française at the Movies explores the great human passions through four masterpieces of the French repertoire.
Chimène, daughter of Count Don Gomès, and Rodrigue, known as El Cid, are deeply in love. But a serious feud pits their families against one another, and Rodrigue must avenge his father’s honor in an inevitable duel with the count… A battle that upends his love story with Chimène.
