Presentation

By Aurore Évain, author, director, actress, and theater historian.
Did you know that the emergence of female actors in the 16th century revolutionized theater? That the word “autrice” was once used at the Comédie-Française before being eliminated by the Académie française? Or that a female author might be hiding behind the name Shakespeare?

Aurore Évain takes the audience on an investigation spanning four centuries of history, following in the footsteps of the first female actresses and playwrights of European theater.

A lively lecture that restores “matrimoine” to its rightful place and concludes with one of the most fascinating mysteries in literary history: the true identity of Shakespeare.
