The story of Le Thoronet is intrinsically linked to that of its Abbey – a masterpiece of Provencal Romanesque architecture, whose prosperity led to the development of the surrounding village.
The village's subsoil was mined for its Bauxite in the 20th century. The river Argens runs through 26 km of Le Thoronet, and offers a succession of exceptional sites that nature lovers can enjoy discovering by canoe.
