Presentation

A dialogue between classical music and poetry centered on the great works of St. John of the Cross. A concert accessible to a wide audience, inviting listeners to tune in, experience emotion, and turn inward. Cellos: F. Antier & J. Amedro Vocals: Géraldine Voltz
LA NUIT TRAVERSEE: Poetry accompanied by two cellos.

This program invites you to a unique listening experience in which the poems and the music respond to one another. The musical pieces engage in a dialogue with these texts without seeking to illustrate them literally; rather, they extend their resonance.

Silence, in turn, plays an essential role. It does not separate the works; rather, it connects them, allowing the text and the music time to be heard. Thus, the concert is not presented as a succession of pieces, but as a continuous breath in which poetry and the cellos gradually lead the listener into an intimate space.

The selected pieces span four centuries of musical history: from the Baroque to more contemporary works; Bach, Biber, Albéniz, Falla, Marin Marais, Arvo Pärt, Ernest Bloch, Giovanni Sollima, and Samuel Barber accompany a sensitive journey—a dialogue with the songs of the poems—inviting the audience to slow down, listen, and feel.

Without staging, in the simplicity of a church, the cellos become voices, echoing the words and creating a space of silence and inner reflection. This concert is for everyone—from classical music lovers to those simply curious and seeking a moment of beauty and contemplation.
