La Maison du Patrimoine

Built in 1883, this former stable now showcases the extent and diversity of the local History and Heritage, including an authentic 17th-century icehouse that’s still in its original position and a perfect state of repair.

Presentation

This visit is a must-do for anyone interested in the history of Roquebrune-sur-Argens from prehistoric times to the present day. It exhibits a collection of prehistoric and Roman vestiges, a magnificent ex-voto collection and a Medieval garden of medicinal plants. The museum is arranged around an authentic icehouse dating from the 17th century.
The prehistoric objects come from the late-palaeolithic caves of the Blavet gorges, a spectacular wilderness in the area of La Bouverie.
The district of Les Issambres is better known for its Roman history. A Roman reservoir, where fish were bred and caught for food, has miraculously survived the passing centuries. This site became a listed Historical Monument in 1939.
You’ll come across it if you explore the coastal path.
Added bonus: activity cards for children on the prehistoric period and medieval history.
Take the whole family!
