The waymarked trail
The walk starts from the carpark facing Terra Rossa Museum
Do not cross the bridge but, instead, follow the well worn road. About 546 yards further, turn right onto “Gaudran” pathway and walk further onto “Serre” unleveled pathway. At the buttom of this slope, the road leads off to the right.
Follow it and a few yards further, turn left: you eventually reach a tiny dale. When you further follow the waymarks, you slightly go uphill until a slope onto your right is met: You can pause and admire the overhanging view on Gaudran Valley and Croix de Solliès Chapel.
You soon reach the « Piste du Nord du Serre » trail. Take a left turn and follow it until a fire tank is met. Leave it to your right and go onto the south trail: follow it for a few yards and turn right onto a tiny waymarked pathway going uphill.
Once you have reached the Serre sommet (top of the hill, 431 meters high) you can pause to admire the gorgeous view on the centre part of the Var region.
Follow the trail going downhill and a few yards further, take the waymarked pathway leading off to your left. This will take you to Laurons place name. Cross the southern trail and follow the waymarked pathway just opposite. This leads you downhill until a municipality demarcation board is met. The waymarks eventually lead you to Lauron ruins. You can pause and discover the ruins of this site … Retrace your steps and follow the waymarked trail going uphill up to the tank, heading back to Salernes; Follow the wide firemen trail leading off to your right up to the ridge. This will take you to the former Entrecasteaux – Salernes road (outstanding views on the Var region). You now find yourself at the bottom of the dell. The waymarks take you now uphill. Once at the top, the waymarked trail goes again downhill and offers views on Tourtour, Villecroze and Salernes. Go onto the forest track until the place name “Iscle” on the river banks is met.
You can choose:
Either the tarmac road leading to “"chemin du bas Gaudran"” pathway and Terra Rossa Museum
Or retrace your steps crossing the romanic bridge
