The land of flying donkeys!
A legend dating back over three centuries earned Gonfaron its reputation as a "land of flying donkeys"!
Set at the foot of the Maures Hills, Gonfaron is a quiet little village. The little chapel of Saint Quinis, built on top of the neighbouring hill, stands guard over the village and offers delightful views over the Maures. The village thrived in the 19th century thanks to its cork industry. Cork was gathered from cork oaks in the Maures Hills, and turned into bottle corks at the local factories.
