Fourmigue diving spot

Fourmigue diving spot

In Provençal, "fourmigue" means a dangerous reef for navigation. These 2 islets off the Pointe de Chevaliers in Giens make a lovely dive.

Presentation

To the east of this "lost" islet off the coast of Carqueiranne, a beautiful dive awaits you thanks to a superb drop-off that takes you down to a depth of 35 meters. Magnificent gorgonians and scree await you.

In summer, the fauna is less abundant due to the influx of divers and fishermen. It's best to dive here in spring or autumn, when you'll have a better chance of spotting small groupers and lobsters. If you're lucky, you'll also spot octopus, serrans, crenilabra, girelles, scorpion fish and sars...

Please note that diving is not recommended in an easterly wind and is quite tricky in the mistral. But when weather conditions are favorable, La Fourmigue is one of the most beautiful dives in the area.
