The City of Toulon is hosting the exhibition “L’été suspendu” by painter Julie Chartier.
Through her oil-on-canvas paintings, the artist explores the landscape as a sensory space, straddling the boundary between reality and the imagination. The sea, the sky, and the horizons come together in a play of textures and colors.
In Julie Chartier’s landscapes, horizons blur, colors blend, and the movements of water and wind emerge between texture and light. The artist works primarily in oil paint, using a palette knife. Her direct and intuitive brushwork allows her to capture not so much a specific place as the sensation it evokes. A ray of light, a shift in the sky, or the memory of a shoreline thus becomes the starting point for an inner landscape.
