Student Concert
Highlights of the 20th Century
TPM Conservatory Symphony Orchestra
Conductor: Swann Van Rechem
Soloist: Ninon Hannecart-Ségal
This marks the first collaboration between “Le Symphonique TPM” and French conductor Swann Van Rechem, who made a name for himself in 2023 by winning the Grand Prix at the Besançon Competition. Active in both opera and concert settings, he collaborates with numerous European orchestras and is a member of the Paris National Opera Academy.
This program offers a true panorama of the musical richness of the 20th century, through three works with contrasting yet complementary styles.
On one hand, Francis Poulenc’s *Concert champêtre*, which elegantly revisits the Baroque spirit while infusing it with a resolutely modern harmonic and orchestral style. In a different vein, Aaron Copland’s *Appalachian Spring* unfolds a soundscape deeply rooted in American popular culture, carried by simple, luminous, and evocative melodies.
Finally, with *An American in Paris*, George Gershwin draws us into a vibrant urban tapestry, where the energy of jazz blends with symphonic composition to paint a vivid and colorful portrait of Paris.
A multifaceted musical journey that spans heritage, folk traditions, and modernity.
