This purely residential construction, originally without any real military concerns, underwent numerous alterations.
This castle became famous in 1793, when Toulon opened its harbour to the English fleet. At the cost of bloody battles, the Republican troops take Ollioules back from the English and Spanish. The castle became the headquarters of the Republican army and Captain Napoleon Bonaparte distinguished himself in this enterprise. The castle will be sold successively. In the 19th century, the castle was bought by Charles Baron Godinot who refurbished the house and restored the gardens. Today, the property still belongs to his descendants. It includes magnificent Mannerist style gypseries.
Private property, this castle can only be visited during the European Heritage Days.
