Immerse yourself in the vibrant aesthetic of Marseille in the 2000s with this retrospective of Cédric Malo, aka Tabas, the iconic signature of the era.
Red Rocks Artlab invites you to relive the creative effervescence of Marseille in the 2000s with the exhibition "Ça tabasse! This unprecedented retrospective is dedicated to Cédric Malo, aka Tabas, a true spearhead of graphic design in Marseilles, who captured the urgency of the street to forge the visual identity of a territory.
At the heart of the exhibition are the archives of the Bureau de Tabas (founded in 2000), the graphic lungs of the city's major cultural projects. From its historic collaboration with the Marsatac festival to its seminal creations for Marseilles rap icons such as the Fonky Family, the exhibition traces how its stroke forged the collective imagination of French hip-hop and the "street" identity of an entire generation.
Beyond nostalgia, the exhibition explores the force of détournement so dear to the artist: from logos to the iconic reinterpretation of Pastis 51, Tabas creates visual shocks between insolence and typographic rigor. This immersive experience testifies to a unique trajectory in which graphic design leaves the advertising medium to be inscribed on walls, canvases and even on the skin through tattooing.
