A bord du Prince des Mers - Port de Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer

A bord du Prince des Mers - Port de Saint-Mandrier-sur-Mer

In fine weather from Easter to All Saints' Day, Didier Ranc owns two "pointus", traditional fishing vessels in the French Mediterranean, but it's on the Prince des Mers that he'll take you off the Saint-Mandrier peninsula.

Presentation

A fisherman from father to son, Didier will show you traditional net fishing techniques. You'll also learn how he uses traps to catch conger eels, lobsters and capons. Early in the morning, depending on the weather, you'll join him in a small group to set and haul in the nets and traps. Back in port, Didier sells his fish to fishmongers, wholesale fishmongers and certain restaurants. But if you'd like to buy the day's catch from him, don't hesitate to ask: he'll do the dockside sales for you.
