February .

From traditional to the international festivals, the Var is the place to be all year round. In February in the Var, it is the period of the mimosa and the flower corsos, events not to be missed! Among the most popular, the corso of Bormes is one of the oldest of the French Riviera. Take the opportunity to follow the Mimosa Route. You will also find mythical sporting events such as the Marathon du Golfe de Saint-Tropez or the Boucles du Haut Var.

The Var shines in february with the mimosa !

Between the Mediterranean and the Mimosa in the Var

In February, the Mimosa continues to bloom on the Riviera with its hills tinged with a brilliant yellow and perfumed with woody fragrances.

This golden shrub is honoured through the Route du Mimosa, a 130km route of gold and scents that stretches from the medieval village of Bormes-les-Mimosas to Grasse, the world capital of perfume.

The mimosa in all its splendour!

The Var continues to celebrate the Mimosa with its winter festivities such as:

  • Guided tours of the Domaine du Rayol: “The Mimosa Odyssey”. Their Australian garden, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral in the Var, is resplendent with the many mimosas in bloom.
  • Corsos: The flower parade in Bormes-les-Mimosas and the Mimosa parade in Sainte Maxime.
Corso fleuri

The first corsos of Le Var take to the stage .

Heir to the Carnival, the flower parade is fully part of the Var tradition.

On Saturday the floats are decorated with thousands of flowers and on Sunday they parade through the village streets. Fanfares, folk groups or costumed characters accompany the parade. In Bormes, Sainte-Maxime and Saint-Raphaël, the mimosa splashes the parades, elsewhere it is multicoloured carnations or other cut flowers that dress the floats. A flower fight always closes the festival!

Festival of the sun and flowers

The main corsos are those of Bormes-les-mimosas, Carqueiranne, Cavalaire-sur-Mer, Cogolin, Draguignan, Le Lavandou, Ollioules, Roquebrune-sur-Argens, Saint-Raphaël and Sainte-Maxime with notably :

  • The mimosa parade in Sainte-Maxime, more than a tradition, a festival celebrated throughout the town.
  • The corso of lights in Cavalaire-sur-Mer which makes the town shine with three days of festivities.
  • Finally, the best known is the flower parade in Bormes-les-Mimosas. It takes place on the last Sunday of February. With its 80 years of existence, it is one of the oldest flower corsos.

The truffle, always in the spotlight for the greatest pleasure of our taste buds !

Highly prized in the culinary world, this mushroom is difficult to cultivate, and its rarity makes it a luxury product. Fortunately, the limestone and sandy soils of the Haut-Var are conducive to the development of “Tuber melanosporum”, the delicious black truffle.

Nestled in the heart of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, the village of Grimaud celebrates the black truffle over a long weekend during its “Truffe en fête. The ideal opportunity to discover and appreciate the unsuspected flavours of the black diamond of the Var in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
